Todays Update From Eric "The Ammoman"

This is the line I thought interesting:

"We called all our connections we have dealt with for the last 26
years in business. We have never seen it like this. The Country sold
out in 1 month."

Never before have we had such an "anti gun" President, Vice President, Congress and Senate coming into power either.

Wow............ kinda sounds like silver wil be one day.:ok:

But in all seriousness the stars have lined up against the gun community and the time for talking is past.

You better get EVERYTHING you have been looking for prior to Jan 20th .

There is post somewhere around here about a High level store manager at Walmart saying that a memo is being circulated the Federal taxes on ammo are going to up to some unheard amount of 500%

Is it a rumor? Maybe

Do you want to take the chance? I wouldnt.

Anyone know what the current level of Federal tax is on Ammo ?

Say it's 5-cents per round then with the increase it would be 25-cents per round which is outrageous.

Some rumors are flying around that urban Wally Worlds wont sell ammo after Jan 3rd. So either it wont be available, or it will be taxed beyond belief, so if that's not a buy signal then I dont know what is.

Re: Todays Update From Eric "The Ammoman"

Firearms and Ammunition
Tax
Pistols and Revolvers
10% of sale price
Other Firearms and Ammunition
11% of sale price

http://www.ttb.gov/tax_audit/atftaxes.shtml

So, let's say a box of Ammo costs $20 then $2.20 is Federal Tax.
If that increases by 500% then the tax would be 55% of the sale price.

But we know that a box of $20 ammo is yielding $17.80 towards the cost of product + profit. So we work backwards.

Without changing the price (yield of $17.80) puts the price around $40 per the same box of Ammo.

So by increasing Federal Tax by 500% (or 5-times) effectively DOUBLES the cost of Ammo across the board without any other increases.

Please elaborate, I have bought 1000's of rounds of various calibers through him over the last couple years with no problem, other than I ordered 1000 rnds of Wolf .40 and they delivered 1000 rounds of Speer TMJ which is like 75 dollars more expensive than what I payed, which IMO isn't a problem at all just good customer service, I believe they were out of Wolf at the time.

One of the neocon bootlickers who runs ar15.com has been complaining about him for years. Other than people parroting that complaint, Ive never heard anything bad about him.

Those prices aren't that great for the Winchester .45ACP they have it for 50rnds for 20 bucks whereas Wal-Mart is 100 rnds for 31 or so. Also the 7.62X39 is high as well when you figure shipping. AMMOMAN is pretty hard to beat in my experience.

I bought today 2 tins (5.45x39 Non-corrosive 1080 in each tin) free shipping for $137 each
the only problem theses are now on backorder- last week the were in stock

could care less if they are on backorder as they don't charge till they ship

Shipping is already factored in the cost of the ammo .......that is just a marketing ploy.

I dont have a problem with it just as long as people dont get hung up on this one fact.

I like them because all you have to do is just give a few mouseclicks to be able to have ammo shipped.

I dont care for all the other places that want your DL # and a billable home address for their personal records.

Re: Todays Update From Eric "The Ammoman"

Went to a local (to me) gun shop on Sat. They had run out of Wolf 7.62x39 the previous week.

They had just got in Yugoslavian 7.62x39: Six cases of 1,260 rounds on stripper clips at $300 per case and six cases of 1,120 rounds w/o stripper clips at $4.99 per 15-round box.

Went back this evening (Monday). They had ONE case of the Yugo with strippers, and about ONE case and a few stray boxes of Yugo without strippers.

This shop isn't open on Sundays. They sold all this in less than 16 store hours. Three months ago I suspect this supply would have lasted them at least six months.

But $50+ more then I am paying for a Tin

I can see a few buck but not $50

although www.ammunitiontogo.com does have 9mm in tins for a great price going to have to pick a couple up

What is the shipping like at Ammunition to go? I am interested in a 1260 round case of Yugo. The cost is not so bad, but it could be much worse with shipping.

He was selling "bringback" SKSs (i.e. ones brought back by soldiers, rather than commercially imported) a few years ago.

As it turns out, they really were imported, and he was selling his rifles fraudulently.

I prefer Wideners. Palmetto State Armory is also good and has flat-rate shipping.

$40.66 for a case shipped to NW Indiana. f'er is out of his mind. BTW the owner of ATG is frugal squirrel IIRC. I wouldn't buy it from him unless I knew he was losing money on it.

I recently had a half case shipped........ I think it was somewhere in neighborhood of 22-27 bucks ( I cant remember exactly) But it wanst horrible IMO..

I got 44 pounds of ammo being shipped to me right now from them (2 boxes) and the S/H was 82.00.

Could have I have done better elsewhere? Probally but then I dont have be bothered with the hoop jumping, dealing with multiple vendors trying to save 15-22 bucks on shipping.

Some people are much better at multi tasking being able to capture those savings .......all I care about getting my product with relative ease and relative speed.

Thats it.

Bingo. That and his sorry customer service (order 45acp and get 9mm, he'll tell you to get bent) has had him banned from EVERY gunboard on the net.

Prome-

Weidners has been great to order from. They ship next day.

For all the info on Ammo Man, I have ordered from him almost a dozen times and never had one problem. Because Weidners ships so fast and it gets to my door fast, I will look to them first from now on.

Frugal Squirrels is connected to AmmoConnection, not AmmunitionToGo.

The owner of both is pretty anti-Catholic.

Re: Todays Update From Eric "The Ammoman"

On Sunday I saw a case of .308 STEEL CORE CHINESE ammo. The guy is my reloading supply guy. He got it from a private individual. He was attempting to sell them at $17 PER BOX of twenty. At least it looked like boxes of twenty. Could have been boxes of fifty.

But that stuff has not been imported since 1992 (1994?).

He still had the full case as I walked past his table after closing up my table and was on my way out the door.

OH WELL. It will be there next show. And it will probably be more expensive.

And there were TONS of Yugo 39. Most were selling it for $350 a case. I saw loads of people dollying out two to four cases at a time. One of the tables selling it was constantly having to go back to their trailer for more. About once an hour I would seem him go out and then wheel back in five more case. Sometimes he made that run twice an hour.

BUSY PLACE for ammo sales here in Denver.

Wideners is a great place. Can't say I've ever done online business as I always just walked into the shop. I just checked his site and the selection is VERY limited. For example, there are no HP much less high-grade defense loads in .380.
ATG and MidwayUSA certainly have the best selection that I've found.

$350 for a 1K case of Yugo? I wonder if the buyers know how corrosive it is.

ohioarmedneutrality 12-09-2008 10:56 PM

If you clean thoroughly and quickly, corrosive ammo is not a big deal. Windex and/or hot water and then clean as usual.

Eulenspiegel 12-09-2008 11:22 PM

Re: Todays Update From Eric "The Ammoman"

True, but how many of these purchasers realize that? There is a lot of panic buying, and I fear that a lot of nice weapons will be ruined because people didn't realize that "corrosive" means CORROSIVE.

Eric The Ammoman has thus far treated me well, and I expect to receive a backordered shipment from him in the next few days.

Bulk .308 is very difficult to obtain, and .60 per round is not unreasonable at this late point in the game.

Ammo IS a form of hard-currency after all...

I dont care......

You clean your weapon after use and it should be fine.

Or better yet save that ammo for barter or charity........keep the choice stuff for your private cache.

At least that is my plan.

Now that my ammo has arrived (even though it shipped to the wrong address and was delayed by almost two weeks), I can still say that I am pleased with The Ammoman.
